KEEPING WELL BALANCED DURING FLU SEASON

Cold and flu season are upon us and we are at the

eve of the holiday season. To protect your self

remember to eat healthy and in moderation and

drink plenty of fluids (water) and get exercise.

keep moving. This will keep your system strong

and help fight off the germs of the season. Also

make sure to wash your hands often and because

of the cold use a good hand lotion to protect

against chapping and cracking.

They ask what will I talk about :obesity the dangers of anorexia and bulimia, body image. well that is a good question. I willl be speaking about Boday Imgwe ata workshop at Betty ferguson foundation January  23, 2010 and then I wil be speaking about obesity at Whole Foods in the spring. ENJOYING THE OUTDOORS

The weather has been beautiful. Its perfect for walking and jogging and biking and swimming. Enjoy thre weather while we have it. I have been enjoying the pool Its been great for my back. Always make sure you are well hydrated while working out. I have received a reformer to do my pilates. I even plan to keep it outside in the yard. The only problem is we cant figure out how to put it together. If there is anyone out there reading my blog and you can build a reformer please let me know.

This morning I went for a flu shot. It was free at Facey. Yes I did wait over an hour but Iam planning not to get that nasty flu this year. Go for your flu shot. You will feela  lot better.

Moving up my Exercise

I have finally gone back to the gym. It is one oth since my surgery. I am feeling better but am careful to take precautions. I am now riding the recumbant bike, a good low impact exercise when your body cant do anything to strenuoius. So now I have my walking regimen and my bike riding. It feels god and not to much pressure on my body. If the weather clears up , this weekend I will take to the pool for water walking and water exercise. Those are 2 excellent forms of exercise if you have a pool for people with arthritis, fybromyalgia, heart conditions, cancer survivors and if you are recovering from surgery. In the next moth I plan to be back to a full workout program.

Remember to be easy on your joints and not to take on more than you are ready for

GREAT DAY FOR A WALK

I just came back from a lovely walk. the weather has turned fall like and walking now is so pleasant The temperature is just right with a little breeze and all that hot, hot, hot stuff we had going on is gone. for those of you following me know that I am recovering from surgery and walking is the only activity I am allowed. I have been saying for anyone who has been sick or injured that you must stay ona nutritious food plan and not cut back Your body needs nourishment to heal. It also needs activity so walking is the best and safest thing to  do.As  an eating disorder coach I have much experience in this area. ON THE MEND

As I am healing I am very careful to add new exerxise to my daily routine. Always check with your doctor to find out what you should attempt to do  Sometimes they will say try it and if it works do it. Just always be on the cautious side. I am still just walking which seems to work out best for me. I know soon Iwll be able to get back to my routine and that will help me mentally heal. I know for an active person it is difficult to scale back on theri titness programs when they are ill or injured but if they have been in shape they will bounce back. remember to be healthy and fit you must listen to your body and your medical professional and do what is best att he time I am looking forward to getting back to my swimming and pilates but in good time. And dont forget about a healthy food plan while you are ill. Your body is hard at work healing
