SCV Savories–Frankie’s “Just Like Grandma Used To Make” – Italian SCV

Posted by scvsavories on March 12, 2010

Food is a passion of mine. For those of you who are familiar with my past, you will remember that dessert is what occupied all of my time and energy. Morning, noon and night, I engulfed myself in the latest and greatest desserts, whether from the simplest of creations, to the most original. Because times have changed and I create these masterpieces only for friends and family and at my leisure, I have discovered a new love–the savory part of life. Yes, food has become a new terrain that I am all too eager to explore.
The Santa Clarita Valley has in past years been known for it’s all too familiar chain restaurants, with venues such as Olive Garden, Black Angus and the Elephant Bar, with their neon signs, begging us to patronize the familiar establishments we could see in any other major city nationwide. Although these are favorites among many, a large part of a booming community is the promise that new sites and tastes will come and stake their claim.
With that promise of a bold future in mind, within the past two years, we have seen an abundance of new and unique places sprout form the seeds of new soil. One of these is Frankie’s Italian Restaurant and Oyster Bar.
Located in the Bridgeport Marketplace, this small yet classic space is reminiscent of a hip, New York oyster bar, and yet has the neighborhood feel we all yearn for, no matter what time of life.
Their service is impeccable, as this family-owned restaurant treats their customers as such–as family. They have the experience of big-city restaurant ownership, as this is the second Frankie’s location in California, the first still located on Los Angeles’s metropolitan Melrose Boulevard.
I have my particular favorites, as does my husband and my stepdaughter. Mine is the Chicken Piccata, filled with flavor, and generous enough of a portion where leftover’s are probable, and the satisfaction that I feel that evening finds me once again, smiling the following day for lunch.
My husband loves the San Gennaro Sausages, with roasted peppers and onions. Add a side of Marinara Sauce, and your taste buds will be singing their own aria.
My stepdaughter loves their Penne A La Vodka, which is rich, luscious penne smothered in a velvety tomato cream sauce.
Now, if appetizers are your forte’, don’t pass up their Mozzarella Marinara or their Bruschetta. Simply sensational!
We have patronized Frankie’s several times and have not ever been disappointed. My bet, is you won’t either.
