Before displaying decorative lights, check for frayed cords, broken wire, bulbs and loose connections. If you find a problem throw the strand away !! Never replace a broken bulb or fuse when the lights are plugged in !!
Always take note to the manufactures instructions and generally never put more than 3 strands of lights per electrical cord/outlet. Overloading an outlet could cause a short-circuit and is a fire danger.
Use caution when hanging your lights with staples, nails or tacks to not pierce the wires.
Only use UL approved lighting and cords. It’s always a good idea to unplug your decorative lights when you leave your home or go to bed.
Please keep in mind that your City, County or Homeowners association may have a time limit that outside decorative lights can be displayed.
